FAQ

What is Parasailing?

When parasailing, you ride under a parachute towed by a speedboat. There’s very little physical effort involved; you mainly enjoy the incredible views from up to 1000 feet in the air. Both the launch and landing are done from the back of the specialized parasailing boat, so there’s no need to take a swim (though you may get a little wet from spray and dipping if you choose to!).

Is parasailing dangerous?

Hundreds of thousands of parasailing flights are done safely every year. The biggest risks come from operating in unsafe weather or sea conditions combined with poorly maintained equipment. We monitor weather and sea conditions hourly and have strict rules about when to suspend operations. All our equipment is fully inspected and logged daily. Our captains have tons of parasailing experience with 75,000 flights and no injuries.

How much does Parasailing cost?

Parasailing rates per person:

  • 1000ft – $115 (for ~10 minutes)
  • 750ft – $90 (for ~6-8 minutes)
  • 500ft – $72 (for ~4-5 minutes)
  • Observer (Ride Only Trip for One) – $45

How long are trip times and flight times?

A trip lasts no longer than one hour from the time the boat leaves the dock until it returns. Flight times depend on your reservation and specified parasailing rates.

Do I need prior Parasailing Experience?

No prior experience is needed. The Captain and crew do ALL the work. You just need to come prepared to have a great time.

Do I need to know how to swim?

No, takeoffs and landings are from the boat’s back deck. You may choose to get dipped in the water. Life jackets will keep you afloat in case of a malfunction.

Do I have to get wet?

No, it’s optional. The Captain will offer to dip your feet in the water towards the end of the ride. You can inform the crew if you want to stay dry.

Can I go if I am pregnant?

For safety, pregnant women are not allowed. Please come back and fly with us when you can!

Can I go if I have suffered spinal, back, or neck injuries in the past?

If you have these injuries, it’s best to refrain from parasailing or even being on the boat if they are active concerns.

How old do I need to be to fly?

Parasailers must be at least 5 years old. Guests under 18 must have an adult sign them in. There is no maximum age restriction.

Can I go up with someone else?

Yes, we offer flights in pairs of two or three, no single flights. Multi-passenger flights are side-by-side for great views and comfort.

Is there a weight restriction?

The minimum combined weight is 190 lbs, and the maximum is 450 lbs. The captain determines specific cut-offs based on weather conditions.

Can a minor go up by themselves?

If the minor weighs at least 100 lbs, it’s okay, but an adult must check them in. For those under 100 lbs, they need to fly with someone else.

What if I change my mind while already on the boat?

You can change your mind, but there are no refunds. However, this rarely happens.

How does parasailing work?

After outfitting you with a life vest and harness, you’re seated on the flight deck of the boat. The crew clips your harness to the parachute. The Captain releases the winch line, and you’re off smoothly, like sitting on a swing set. All take-offs and landings are done from the boat.

Is parasailing scary?

No, it’s serene and peaceful. Take-offs and landings are slow and gradual. It’s generally not frightening unless you have a strong fear of heights.

What happens if the tow line breaks?

The tow line is inspected daily to prevent breaks. In the unlikely event of a break, participants will slowly and safely descend into the water. Life jackets will keep them afloat until they are pulled back onto the boat. The parasail won’t sink or go over your head.

What should I wear and leave behind?

Dress for the weather. If it’s cool, wear a long-sleeved shirt/sweatshirt. Bathing suits and beach attire are good on warm days. Leave behind items that can be damaged by water or are expensive/hard to replace. We’re not responsible for damaged or lost items.

Can I take my camera or phone up with me?

You can, but consider the height and water risks. Disposable cameras are best. We also offer a digital photo package.

What photo packages do you offer?

The Photo Service package includes up to 60 photos of your adventure. You get an SD memory card with all your photos.

Do we need to make reservations?

Reservations are encouraged due to parasailing’s popularity and limited space.

Cancellation and refund policies

  • No refund for cancellations made 24 hours (1 day) or the same day of the reservation.
  • Cancellations due to weather, mechanical issues, or other factors can be fully refunded or rebooked.

What if it rains or is extremely windy?

Sprinkles are fine, but high winds and heavy seas make parasailing unsafe. The Captain decides whether to go on stand-by or close for the day. Refunds or rescheduling are offered if you can’t fly.

When should I plan parasailing during my vacation?

Plan it early in your vacation to have other opportunities if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept debit cards, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or American Express.

Days and times the boat departs

  • The boat operates every day except Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Reservation times start as early as 7:40 am and go until 5:00 pm. Check availability on our site.

Is it customary to tip the crew?

If you had a good time, the crew appreciates a tip in cash, card, or Venmo.
